Commissioned on 14 July 1942, HMAS Penguin is situated in Balmoral on Middle Head in Sydney Harbour, with an annex at Pittwater on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Its primary role is to provide trained personnel to the fleet, and it is home to the ADF Diving School, the RAN Hydrographic School, and the RAN Medical School.
