In May 2022, Navy Headquarters South Australia was recommissioned as HMAS Encounter. Situated within the Osborne Naval Shipyard Precinct at Outer Harbor on the Lefevre Peninsula, South Australia, its role is to support naval shipbuilding capability in the state, while also providing administrative support to Navy personnel and representing Navy within the local community.

- Gold — representing wisdom, constancy, faithfulness, glory, and generosity, gold lends the badge its distinctive, striking finish.
